  2.  Kaspersky Anti-Virus(Paid Version Only, $59.95)

Scope of Protection:   (High Detection Rate(98.5%),)

Kaspersky have got impressing Detection Rates and Ease of access method,Most great advantage of Kaspersky is it's features there are lots of unique features such as desktop security gadget that fills the PC security at it's maximum. The one and only disadvantage is Kaspersky is a little high on using resources.Kaspersky is getting perfect for Home use and Business solutions.

    3.Avira Anti-Virus (Both Paid & Free Versions,€ 24.30)
Scope of Protection:   (High Detection Rate(98.3%),)
Effectiveness:            (Low System Resource usage even while scanning.)

Features:                    (Features that are not too much)

Avira AntiVir Premium is one of the best in the Home anti-Virus Solutions, and has several compelling features(Lowest Resource Use & High Detection Rates) that make it a great choice for antivirus software.
Avira uses high heuristics techniques to search & Destroy malware from computer and also has a highest False-Positive rate that makes Avira rank No.3.

    3. Norton AntiVirus 360(Paid Version Only,$89.99)

Scope of Protection:   (High Detection Rate(97.1%),SONAR 3 Detection Technology

Updates:                    (Frequent updates)
Help & Support:        ((24/7 Help by Phone,Live chat)

We are moderately like Norton AntiVirus 2011,They improved and maintains their feature pack and gives much Data Backup Options and Great SONAR3 Detection Technology it's quite applicable for a business environment. The main disadvantage of Norton is High Resource Usage and Norton get stuck with some applications.

    4.Avast! Pro Antivirus 5.0 (Both Paid,$49.99 & Free Versions)

Scope of Protection:   (Average Detection rates(96%)
Effectiveness:             (Lowest System usage(It's great & Varieties of Protection Shields)

Updates:                    (Frequent updates)
Help & Support:        (No phone,Live chat,Only Forums)

I personally like avast because it's simple user interface & Lowest System usage it's been grate but the primary goal of a anti-virus must be highest detection rate and there might not be a compromise. Avast is the recommended anti virus for a home environment.

 5. ESET Nod32Anti-virus Plus 2011(Paid Version only,USD 39.99)

Scope of Protection:   (Medium Detection rates(96%
ESET NOD32 AntivirusEffectiveness:             (Good performance)
Ease of Use:               (Good but not great,Price is greater than KAV,BitDefender)
Features:                    (Good, IM Protection,Anti-Phishing not included)
Updates:                    (Daily updates)
Help & Support:        (Not satisfactorily,No live chat )

Eset Nod 32 is a good antivirus providing 96% detection rate and more.In 2010 Nod 32 was not a good choice but they evolved quickly in both detection rates and features. But they forget to add two essential features that IM protection and Anti-Phishing.The interface is good but not excellent. So it is a good choice for medium home user.

 6. McAfee Anti-virus Plus 2011(Paid Versions,$44.99)

McAfee have average performance and some unique features(Quick Cleaner etc.) that hold users to McAfee. McAfee Anti-virus was the most trusted Anti-Virus in the Cyber Security world Once. But now they are dramatically getting bad in all ways such as low detection rates,Features etc. They provide a high Quality Help & Support for users.

AVG is still good. I recently got hit by a virus and was still able to download AVG for free at http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free. AVG managed to get rid of it and I have had any more problems.

AVG let a Trojan infect my computer. I lost all files and couldn't get rid of it. Ended up buying a new computer.
I won't be using it again.

Maybe, but a guy that calls himself "Septic Tank" online is probably surfing in some pretty filthy areas of the internet. It's the computer equivalent of licking the floor of a bus station bathroom...
